Week One Blog Post

What did you learn this week?

  • This week, I learned about the science subject, in general, and how to see the different standards of what is expected in each grade. I also learned a lot about how hands on learning, and experiments for kids to be involved in, is super important for their learning.

Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?

  • I feel like I can relate what we learned this week to what I had already knew because we talked in class about different things we thought should be taught in elementary school related to science. At our tables and with the rest of the class, we all discussed things we learned in our experience when we were at the elementary age.

How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

  • In the future, I think I could use what we learned in class today by using the little paper classroom we made, making a safe and comfortable classroom for my students. I also will be using the hands on experiences for them because kids can learn a lot through play, and different types of hands on activities.

  1. Hi Olivia!
I love your classroom set up and think it will be a great, safe environment for students! In my future classroom I also want to incorporate hands-on activities and different experiments so students can get more engaged and understand the scientific processes on a deeper level.

  2. Hey Olivia!
I agree it is a good idea to use the classrooms we drew when planning how to set up our future classrooms. It's so important to make sure we create a safe and comfortable classroom for our students. I didn't even think of that originally but I think having a drawing going into setting up the room would make things go so smoothly! I also thought a lot of what we talked about in lab related to discussions from other classes.

  3. Hi Olivia! I love to idea of incorporating many hands on activities into your teaching because we learned about some many benefits. I really like how you created a help desk into your future classroom because that is something that many students would love to use when they might be to afraid to ask the teacher for help.
