Week 13 Blog Post
Olivia Langosch
This week I was not in class, so I do not have any pictures, but I took a screenshot from the slides, this is how it was supposed to look in class. I think this is such a fun experiment to do with young kids because it's so fascinating for children. But, from the slides and from peers, I learned more about density. I liked going back to the m&m experiment because I found that experiment really interesting. This experiment really showed how we can use a particle model to explain matter interactions. The sugar water shows how the sugar from the outer shell of the candy spreads.
I can relate this to what I already knew because of doing this experiment before in this class. We saw how the regular water made the colors spread, so looking at sugar water was really interesting.
I will be using experiments like this in my future classroom because I think this is a great way for students to stay intrigued and really think of why these things happen, and it's fun for them and hands-on.
